First Week of School is over!

What an amazing start!

** Welcome Back
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Ice Cream Social. Many thanks to all those who volunteered at this lively event! A special shout out to sponsors Albertsons, Costco and Murphy Orthondontics and a HUGE thank you to Rachel Williams and Bernice Sandoval for their fabulous leadership!!

Welcome back to all our returning Fireside Elementary families! And a huge welcome to all of our new families. We are thrilled to have you with us. August is a busy month with a PTO Meeting, two picture days and two Curriculum Nights. We have lots of opportunities to volunteer – we need additional help at many of our events. Please read below and sign-up when and where you can. We really appreciate your helping hand!

We hope your children continue to enjoy their first month at Fireside Elementary. We hope to see you at the PTO meeting tonight at 6 PM. Go Mustangs!

** Check out what’s new from Fireside PTO
You have seen our new logo, but have you seen our new website? The PTO has been hard at work this summer updating both our Facebook page and website. The new website layout includes a calendar of upcoming events, explanations of how the PTO supports your students, and a volunteer sign up sheet.

Our website’s sign up sheet works very similarly to the Sign Up Genius app we used previously; however, all sign ups will now all be in one, easy to find place. This sign up list will be regularly updated and include both regular PTO programs like library support along with special events like BINGO night and the Ice Cream Social. Check it out and sign up today!

** Mustang Money & Class Funds
At Curriculum Night you will receive a donation form for both Mustang Money and Class Funds. Mustang Money is our fall fundraiser, a direct ask campaign, used to fund programs like Art Masterpiece, Junior Achievement, and Accelerated Reader, in addition to supplementing classroom supplies and other teacher requests. We ask that you please donate in the amount you feel comfortable with.

In addition to Mustang Money, we are also requesting a donation to your child’s individual class fund. Class Funds are used throughout the year for class parties, special events and any additional materials needed to support these activities. Money is traditionally collected ONCE at the beginning of the school year to support these classroom initiatives all year and to avoid the need to solicit funding individually for each event. All Class Fund donations are collected by the Fireside Elementary PTO and are held in separate classroom accounts for each individual teacher and homeroom parent use. If you do not wish to contribute to the class funds, we ask that you at least give money for your class t-shirts. Class t-shirts are ordered every year for grades PreK-3 and 6th grades for use on field trips, spirit days, and any other special event throughout the year.

Please return the completed form to your child’s teacher. For your convenience, you can also donate online. (If you choose to donate online, you will need to make separate transactions for Mustang Money and Class Funds.)

** Volunteer Opportunities
We are still in desperate need for the following committee head:

-Bingo Night chair

If you are interested in volunteering or to find out more information, please contact Manda Stanley.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with the following activities at the school:

-Kiss & Go is a service that helps our lil’ Mustangs get to school safely. Please consider donating your time to Kiss & Go. It’s very easy and really fun. The time commitment is minimal – 8:15 to 8:45 AM on any school day of your choosing.
-Picture Day is a special day for our kiddos and we really need some volunteers to help our kids while their pictures are being taken. This year, there are two picture days, so we need twice as many volunteers. Pictures are being taken on August 19th and August 20th and there are morning and afternoon shifts available.
-Our wonderful Nurse Kelly is looking for volunteers to help her during the week of September 28-October 2 with Health Screenings. Nurse Kelly needs a lot of assistance; please sign up to help! No medical training is necessary to volunteer. Nurse Kelly will teach you whatever you need to know.
